Who Wins?
In the midst of the American culture wars, the battle for the country's identity rages. Will this nation carry on with its history of traditional values, or will progressive humanist ideals prevail?
While parents bicker and battle over which values we should adopt, their children are left to face the world on their own. Will they be assaulted by their peers on the street, shot by their classmates school, or bullied into suicide by trolls on the internet?
In this world, every tragedy becomes another talking point on the next news broadcast – delivered with a declining sense of humanity and humility. Adults talk over victims and using the pain and suffering of these children for their propaganda. As these opposing sides seemed to have reached a stalemate, the ones who lost appear to be the ones who were meant to be protected.
"Who Wins" explores the similarities between these people, not their personas, along with the depth of their conviction. By bringing highly detailed linework to a massive scale, I acknowledge the history and dedication to their causes while also displaying what is truly at stake while they remain at each others' throats. No one can know if we will ever find a compromise, but if we don't recogize the problem at hand, we can never progress. That's a game where everyone loses.
